It is amazing to me how much we as humans try to avoid change.
Especially considering how constant it is.
We’ve even developed phrases like ‘change is the only constant’ to remind ourselves of the omnipresent nature of it in our lives.
Yet we regularly rage against it in practice.
We often crave certainty, stability, and predictability - undoubtedly our animalistic origins looking for ways to protect and create safety.
The thing is…
We are not antelope merely avoiding being hunted by a lion.
We are verbal. We have science. We’ve developed entire philosophies and frameworks to understand our natural world.
We have way more skills than just defensive postures. The human premise is expansive.
But the reality, is that change is surefire proof that we are alive.
It is our barometer, a reminder that quality is transient and that we have the ability to shape our experience if we set that intention.
So maybe we embrace it more… spar with the questions… perhaps change our location and try things on for size.
After all, this one precious life is an opportunity.
It is a cosmic at-bat, a sacred chance to invite change as the gift that it is: the truest reminder that we are living.
